The QUIIN lab was excited to showcase their research at this year's New Scientist Live, hosted at the ExCeL Arena in London. Over three days, visitors had the chance to engage hands-on with ultrasound imaging, perhaps performing their very first ultrasound scan, and witnessing firsthand the fascinating interaction between sound waves and bubbles.
It was a fantastic experience for the lab, and they hope to have inspired a future wave of ultrasound pioneers!

ISTU and IUS 2024
September 19-26th, 2024
The lab traveled to Taipei, Taiwan for the back-to-back conferences The 23rd Annual International Symposium on Therapeutic Ultrasound and 2024 Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics, and Frequency Control Joint Symposium in September. Our group was well represented, presenting seven talks and eight posters across the two conferences.

Lambeth Country Show
June 8th & 9th, 2024
Along with other groups from KCL, the QUIIN lab presented at Lambeth Country show, in Brockwell Park. Over the two days lots of adults and kids were able to get to hands on with ultrasound imaging, performing their first scans using the butterfly probe.

Action Medical Research Reception
April 18, 2024
Antonis presented a poster on targeted gene therapy of pediatric brain tumors in the Action Medical Research (AMR) Symposium. He engaged with donors and discussed ongoing work in the QUIIN lab. Many thanks to AMR and Arcobaleno Cancer Trust for supporting our vision!

Anglo-French Physical Acoustics Conference 2024
January 17-19, 2024
Paul and Rachel attended and spoke at the AFPAC 2024 conference organized by the Institute of Physics. The conference covered a wide range of physical acoustics topics such as material characterization, biomedical ultrasound, and imaging.
Rachel spoke about her work in 'Evaluating the physical limits of acoustic holograms for transcranial brain applications'.
Paul gave a talk titled 'Coherent Multi-Transducer Ultrasound (CoMTUS) imaging: Towards large field-of-view imaging with three probes'.

Girls in Engineering event
November 2023
In November, Rachel visited the Boeing flight services site to volunteer at a Girls in Engineering STEM event. 3 schools took part in the event and the girls were split into groups of 5 to compete in 3 different engineering challenges. Rachel gave a talk to the year 8 girls about her path through engineering as a woman and discussed her current work with acoustic holograms.

The event was a great success! The girls were excited to try all the activities and came away with a better understanding of the broad range of STEM subjects available.
